2016 Exhibitions at Oysterponds
The OHS is proud to present our 2016 summer exhibitions in the Village House and in the Janet T. Swanson Gallery of the Old Point Schoolhouse. The exhibits are open all summer every Thursday, Saturday, and Sunday from 2-5 pm, with free admission and fun crafts for children.
*The exhibition Curiosities in the Schoolhouse will open on Saturday, July 2nd. This exhibition will display some of the more unusual items in the collection. Many of the objects have never been on view before – some because they are very large, others because they are one-of-a-kind. Perhaps the most intriguing items are those with an international flavor: objects that came to Oysterponds from the far corners of the world thanks to our sailors and ship captains. Objects of note include Fijian war clubs, a shark’s teeth saber, and a sea chest from the first American ship to enter a Japanese port.
