ANNOUNCING MAKERS MARKETS AT OYSTERPONDS
Our good friends at North Fork Gift came to us with a terrific idea!
Their mission is the furtherance of local artisans and makers on the North Fork or in our general area. These local Makers are engaged in skills and traditions that are, in actuality, at the heart of the history and traditions that we, and most historical societies, hold dear to their missions.
To showcase North Fork Gift’s efforts and direction, starting in July the Oysterponds Historical Society will hold a weekly “Market” for the “Makers” in our community where they can show their wares and promote their talents and historical traditions. North Fork Gift has graciously offered to coordinate this project on our campus on Saturday mornings from 10am to 1pm. Our intended opening Saturday will be July 8th on the OHS campus. Announcements and information will be available on our websites and on social media.
OHS views these traditions, be it food preparation, goods, services, or historic occupations as part and parcel of the history we wish to preserve. As such, we wish to help this “curated” association of artisans and makers reach the attention of our membership and audience so that this idea of a Curated Makers Market can thrive and expand. OHS welcomes this participation and invites our community to join with the North Fork Gift and their associated artisans in realizing the ongoing contribution to makers history to our area.
